  The Town of Blue Mountains has announced that Tomahawk Golf Course will open on Monday April 29^th.  I would like to schedule our first outing for the following day, Tuesday April 30^th, in our regular time beginning around 9:00 AM.

  Based on feedback from last year, and from several interested new members at the Activity Fair, I am considering setting up foursomes based on golf experience. Golfers new to the game and/or who regularly play well over par, might prefer to play with others at a similar skill level, just as golfers who play quickly might prefer a grouping of other fast players.  We all want to feel comfortable with our game, so that everyone has fun. By heading out with similarly matched players, we may feel less self-conscious and enjoy the outing more.

  Of course, this is first and foremost a social activity and members are always welcome to join any foursome, regardless of the strength of their game, as we did last year.

  Please let me know by email if you favour this new approach or prefer to stay with completely mixed groupings.  If you are happy to be paired up with players at a similar skill level, please let me know if you are: a) a faster, more experienced player, or b) slower, less experienced player, or c) open to any matchup.

  Also, please hit the Register button if you plan to play on April 30^th and I will book the appropriate number of tee times and let you know the timing.

  Our next outing will be at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, May 1 at the Heather Pathway on the West side of Collingwood.  Turn onto Balsam Street at the lights on Hwy. 26 and follow it to the end where there is a small parking area by the path.

  This is a dependable birding 'hot spot' where we should be able to spot many songbirds, shorebirds and waterfowl.  If time allows, we may also visit a second spot in the Collingwood Harbour.

  Remember to bring binoculars and your smart phone; we will spend a few minutes helping members to adjust their new binoculars for optimal viewing, and introduce the Merlin and eBird apps for bird id to folks unfamiliar with these wonderful, free resources. 

  Please confirm your attendance by clicking on the Register button above; do not join up by emailing either convenor directly.  Similarly, if you need to cancel, please use the Club website so that Waitlist members will be notified automatically about the new vacancy.

  Billy Bishop Goes To War: a musical

  We hope that you will be able to join us for lunch on the terrace at Meaford Hall, followed by a matinee performance of this Canadian classic. Through humour, drama and song, this comedic musical drama, starring Mike Evans, weaves a narrative that explores the challenges, fears and triumphs of a young man thrust into the epicentre of one of the world's most devastating conflicts.

  In addition, Meaford Hall, in collaboration with the Billy Bishop Museum, will have a Gallery exhibit for a fully immersive experience.

  John Sheard's Homeward Bound, The Music of Simon and Garfunkel

  John Sheard brings together an all-star line-up to perform the iconic music of one of the most successful groups of the 1960s. Simon and Garfunkel are among the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 100 million records.  

  Probably known best as music director for Stuart Mclean's Vinyl Cafe from 1997-2016, Toronto's John Sheard has released 8 solo piano recordings and continues to work with artists of all styles and mentor many young musicians. Since 1975 he has appeared on hundreds of recordings.

  Join your fellow PROBUS members from the Georgian Bay Region for an incredible tour of Norway. The Hurtigruten ship leaves Bergen and sails north of the Arctic circle to Kirkenes and returns to Trondheim. The voyage dates are September 17 - 27, 2024, but most of our members booked on this trip are going early to experience the fabulous train program prior to the voyage from Oslo to Bergen, and the train journey following the cruise, from Trondheim to Oslo.

  Members who chose to enjoy this trip have several options.
  
  Mambers can fly in and out of Bergen, but it is recommended to fly in and out of Oslo.

  • The 3-night program includes a prepaid hotel in Oslo, and at the famous Flam railway, and in Bergen. 3 Breakfasts and 1 dinner. Hotels are all beside the rail stations. Prior to the cruise Twin rate is appr CAD 1560.00.
  • The 2-night program includes a hotel in Oslo, a hotel in Bergen and 1 day rail. Hotel is close to the stations and breakfast is included. Rate is CAD 899.00 pp twin.

  Our Dining Around Town session in October is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, 2024. This is a 3-course dinner with only 30 seats available and will be held at:
