This is easy cycling along local trails and country roads of Thornbury, Meaford, Collingwood, Blue Mountain and Wasaga Beach—we try to avoid steep hills. Hybrid bikes with various speeds are preferred as they have wider tires than a road bike.

We usually begin in the month of May and have a meeting to review bicycle safety. Our rides take place on Monday mornings beginning at 9:30 AM (depending on the weather we may start at 10:00 AM). We cycle for an hour and a half then have a coffee at a local restaurant or a member's home. Since we begin our rides at various locations it is important that you have transportation to get your bike to the starting point.

We sometimes venture further afield just to add some interest to our rides. For example, in the past, we have driven to Midland, Anten Mills and Owen Sound.

Information about the individual rides will be sent weekly by email to all members of the group and includes a link to register. Please make sure you always bring your PROBUS emergency contact card with you!

Owen Sound to Leith and return - led by Hughena and Audrey

Meeting place: Bayshore Community Centre.  3rd Ave., East, Owen Sound

We are cylcing from Owen Sound to Leith. The route is flat and approximately 9 km each direction. The bike path will go to Hibou Conservation area along Grey Road 15. There will be a stop in Hibou then the route continues through Leith to Ainslie Wood Conservation Area. We will stop there at the Pavilion near the water for a drink and view of the scenery. Subsequently, we will return to the Bayshore Community Centre. The ride should be completed within 2 hours. There is a small portion of the route on a road with no bike lane. However, there is little traffic on this road. We will plan a lunch on the patio of the Best Western Hotel which is beside the Bayshore Community Centre.

Parking will be at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre at 1900 3rd Ave. East, Owen Sound. We will park in the corner closest to the Best Western Hotel and near the water. The bike path is right beside the east shore of Georgian Bay.

    Best regards,

    Mary Ann

Meeting place: Brebeuf Event Centre at 16164 Hwy 12 East, Midland

Don and I have been asked to lead the cycle again along the Tay Shore Rail Trail as some members of our group were unable to participate in the June ride. This is a scenic easy ride which hugs the shore of Georgian Bay. We will cycle from Sainte-Marie among the Hurons (Brebeuf Event Centre) to Waubaushene and return (33 km). It is an effortless ride along a paved flat trail with only one or two small hills. After our ride we will plan lunch at the Boathouse Eatery in Midland (177 Kings St.- 705-242-2428). In June we had a very enjoyable ride and lunch.

    Best regards,

    Mary Ann
