These photos were taken during our interesting tour of the Honey House in Chatsworth!

As we arrived for the tour, we were all provided with a beekeeper suit

We had to make sure that all zippers and tabs were completely done up

It was best to have someone helping us tying up everything

Everything was covered from top to ankles. We even had long gloves to wear

Time for a group picture before we head to the bee hives

Our host opening the first hive with great explanations along the way

We are learning how the bees are building the honeycomb to contain their brood and to store honey and polen

Smoke is used to calm the bees naturally before handling the frames

We learn about the life of the male bees (called drones) and that they don't have a stinger

Looking to see if we can locate bee larvaes in the honeycomb

Some bee larvaes have been located

I honestly have never been so close to so many bees !!!

It was very interesting to hear about the life cycle of honey bees. We all learned something new !!!
