Country Cruisers: experienced road cyclists.
Come join us to cycle the lovely countryside via main Country Roads. All rides will be on paved roads, with some hills. For example, Epping, Beaver Valley, GR 19, Pretty River Valley.
The length and pace of Country Cruisers can vary. Early in the season as we get our cycling legs back, rides are shorter in length 30-40 km, and they tend to move at about 18–24 km/hr. By the middle or later part of the season riders are hopefully in better shape. The rides will increase to 50-70 km, and the speeds usually increase to 22-28 km/hr.
In the late fall, rides start to get shorter as the days get colder, but the pace tends to stay the same. At this time we also change to a later starting time, depending on the weather.
We will have a half-way (more or less) break, often at a coffee shop.
Rides start in various locations, so transporting your bike will be necessary. Details and maps will be sent out via email. Print maps, or download to your smartphone, before each ride.
This group does not have a sweeper, although we do regroup often. If you’re not familiar with the route, please let someone know so you don’t get left behind.
