*2021 Update: The plan is to resume the Backroads Cycling activity in late May. Participants must sign-up in advance of each ride and the numbers will be limited according to provincial and club guidelines. Physical distancing and other Covid-19 protocols will apply.
The Back Roads Cycling group is suited for moderate level riders.
This group of cyclists meets THURSDAY mornings at 9:30 am beginning mid May thru to end of September (may be extended if weather allows). Average Ride Time is approximately 2-3 hours (approximately 25 km at start of season, increasing to 45 km as the season unfolds). Roads bikes are suggested, however Hybrids have been known to make the journey just fine.
There are various starting locations so cyclists must have the ability to transport their bike to the starting points. Most of the rides will be along quiet side roads and concessions avoiding the busy county roads. Some of the routes involve rolling hills. Information regarding the route details and directions will be provided to the cyclists via email prior to the ride date.
Each ride includes a mid-point stop at a coffee shop for drinks / snacks and quite simply to socialize with your fellow riders.
We are always looking for new riders to join the group. Hope you’ll join us!
