Heather B spotted a rainbow after a series of April showers...
The brown lumps on the tree trunk are last summer's Gypsy moth empty pupae, and the whitish patches are the egg masses they laid. Each mass holds 400-500 eggs, so that tree is going to have a tough summer! Photo by Chris R!
