Welcome to Session 9.  We will ride the rail trail from Benallin to Shallow Lake, cycle the town and stop for coffee and a treat at Amichi's Cafe. The trail is primarily treed canopy with an open area of swampy meadow views. We'll also take the short side trail to actually view Shallow Lake, a well-hidden gem. Then we return to the parking site in Benallin.  The total distance is 20 kms, very bike friendly and flat, with a couple of rougher areas. We will also seem some healthy examples of toxic Giant Hogweed plants!

 Directions and parking:   Follow Hwy 26 to downtown Owen Sound.  Cross the river bridge and take the second right on 2nd Avenue; that street becomes Road 1. Follow along the shore and turn left onto 17A.  At the T-intersection turn right in Benallin. Do not take the next left after one block, instead proceed straight ahead on a gravel driveway to the parking area on the right past the trail crossing.

From Thornbury it will take less than an hour to drive, depending on traffic of course.
