The Silent Valley location is at the end of a dead end road, Concession #2, in Sydenham Twp., just north of the Village of Bognor (detailed directions from both Thornbury / Collingwood and from Meaford will be provided in the confirmation email).
This hike is a loop formation, in fact a triple loop taking in three separate hiking trails, each with its own unique features and all totalling 6.2 km in length. It will take about 2 - 2 1/2 hours with a moderate hiking pace. While most of the trail is relatively smooth, there are a couple of rocky sections and one area with large rocky outcrops that we shall have to traverse, so proper footwear is a must.
HIKE FEATURES: Silent Valley is the name given to a 200 acre parcel of land located in the Sydenham section of the Bruce Trail, a parcel of land both owned and maintained by the Bruce Trail Conservancy. It is a glorious piece of Nature backed by the Escarpment on the west side and the Big Head Valley drumlins on the east. The property has a number of interesting geological formations. Abundant wild flora and fauna and a couple of significant cultural and historical sites.
