Nottawasaga Lookout Loop Hike & Lunch Hike Leader: Vicki Kellar
We start on the main Bruce Trail through a mature forest and head along the edge of the escarpment. We then descend to the start of the Standing Rock and Caves Side trail. We will pass a standing rock pillar isolated 80 m north of the escarpment edge. There will be lots of crevices, through wonderful 'open to the sky' caves and then we climb back up to the main trail.
The hike is rated as "Difficult"— with rocky climbs, to slippery when wet crevices between dolostone blocks. Some jumbled rock debris. Please ensure you have the physical ability to hike this trail with no balance or mobility issues.
Distance is 3 km, taking approximately 1.5 hrs. Bruce Trail Map #23
Lunch will be at Mylar & Loretta's in Singhampton. Please indicate during registration if you will attend the lunch.
Please remember to bring water and bug spray. Hiking sticks are a little awkward in climbing out of the caves, however I will be taking one.
