Hike Leader: Vicki Kellar
Date: Wednesday August 25
Hike Details:The start of this 7.6 km loop is a lovely forested area that features growth of a wide variety of trees, ferns, and wildflowers as part of the rugged terrain. In addition, you can view crevice caves (we don’t hike through them) and marvellous vistas out over the escarpment. We will hike to the highest point on the Bruce Trail, which is 540 metres. After following the John Haigh Side Trail we will return to our cars via the road (primarily tree covered and downhill).
Difficulty:This hike is rated Easy to Moderately Strenuous, with rocky-type footing in some sections, and a few short slopes to climb. It should take approx. 2+ hours in duration.
Walking sticks, bug spray, snacks and water are recommended.
NOTE: There is some poison ivy in the first portion.
Parking We will meet at the last Three Stages parking area located at the very end of the 6th Side Road past the sign that states No Winter Maintenance, and park just prior to the Road Closed sign.
