Hike Leader: Maureen Hussey Date: Thursday September 9
CANCELLED due to poor weather
The Trout Hollow trail is located in the Municipality of Meaford and, for the most part, follows the bank of the Big Head River from Beautiful Joe Park to the Seventh Line, Meaford. Parking will be at Beautiful Joe Park. The hike is approximately 7 kms. The pathway is well used and for the most part easy footing. There are one or two hills but should be of no concern to most hikers. As well we will be walking along the river bank. It is not onerous at all to the average hiker. Taking into account that we might very well stop on a few occasions, the expectation is that this will be a 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 hour hike. This is an in and out hike on the same trail. We are following the South bank of the Big Head River and as such there are a few ups and downs. There are also some spectacular views of the river. We will walk to and you will see the ruins of the past Power Dam. This hike is well worth the minor aches and pains you may feel following the hike!
