Hike Leader: Sandy Tulloch
Waterfall Hike #1: This is the first in a series of hikes to Grey County waterfalls. These outings are more about the waterfalls than the hikes, and will vary greatly in length and difficulty, so please read the descriptions carefully. The size of the flow over the falls will depend on how much rain we have had recently. There are many different types of waterfalls, so you may want to do some research before the hikes begin.
Our easy 3 km. loop hike will begin at the start of the Freedom Trail. A Black History Cairn along the Trail marks the northernmost terminus of the Underground Railway. We will follow along the Sydenham River, crossing over wooden bridges, and then follow a 300 m. boardwalk upstream at Weaver’s Creek to the falls. Important note- the falls itself is on private property, please be respectful and remain within the designated area. You may want to bring your wallet for a snack or ice cream at Harrison Park Inn at the end of the hike.
