This hike is on a Thursday, and the weather looks to be perfect.
The Silent Valley is a very unique, beautiful area located at the end of a dead end side road, Concession 2, just north of the village of Bognor.
Janet Leigh will lead this hike. It is a loop formation encompassing three separate hiking trails. The Avalanche portion of this loop is very rocky with lots of exposed amabel dolostone, lots of ups and downs and one longer rock strewn hill. The final section is relatively smooth. We will see great geological formations, abundant wild flora and a couple of significant cultural and historical sites. Identified ferns have included polypody, spleenwort and the rare harts tongue and maidenhair varieties.
Difficulty: medium with difficult rocky areas. The hike is approximately 5.5 km, about 2 hours a moderate pace.
