This hike is on a Thursday. Note: start time 9:30
The Trout Hollow trail is located in the Municipality of Meaford and, for the most part, follows the bank of the Big Head River from 7th Line to Beautiful Joe Park.
Parking will be at Beautiful Joe Park, 162 Edwin St, Meaford. We will car pool/convoy from the Park to the starting point.
DESCRIPTION: This is a linear hike on the north trail. We are following the bank of the Big Head River and as such there are a few ups and downs. There are also some spectacular views of the river. We will walk to the site of John Muir's cabin and you will see the ruins of the old dam.
DURATION AND DIFFICULTY: The hike is approximately 7 kms. The pathway is well used and for the most part easy footing with some roots to watch for. There are some hills but should be of no concern to most hikers. As well we will be walking along the river bank. We expect the hike will be 2+ hrs, depending on interests and questions. Both difficulty and pace are moderate.
