Call to Order:
President’s Report:
It is with regret that I cannot complete my term as your President at this February Annual General Meeting. I just had hip surgery and need to stay quiet for a few weeks. Life does get in the way sometimes. Thanks, John, for stepping up today.
Our Club had a very active year:
Starting off with the New Members Lunch. It was a great way to connect with new Members and answer any of their questions before the Activity Fair sign ups.
We have gone to the Theatres in both Stratford and Penetang.
Outings on Lake Muskoka plus visits to Nottawasaga Model Railway Museum and the Steam Heritage Museum.
Not to forget our Annual Picnic with prizes for a number of fun events as well as Bocce.
The Golf Tournament, as always, was “sold out”.
Paul Zammitt from Toronto Botanical Gardens spoke at the Marsh Street Center and will be coming again this year. The Royal Winter Fair saw us there as well.
We cannot forget the “Fallicious” Lunch at The Pottery where each of us drew a table number and sat with someone “new”.
Again, our Christmas Lunch was a great success at Lora Bay.
There is always lots to do - please participate.
Your Management Team is always open to new ideas. Our Club is for your enjoyment – just get involved.
Treasurer’s Report:
Ratification of Constitution & Bylaws of Beaver Valley Probus Club:
We have been asked by Probus Canada to ensure that our Constitution and Bylaws are updated periodically. Membership was advised that the Management Committee reviewed and revised, as necessary.
The revised Constitution follows that of Probus Canada; and the Bylaws are updated to reflect our ongoing commitment to good management. The Amended Constitution and Bylaws were posted on the Club’s website for your perusal in January 2020.
Questions/Concerns: A concern was raised by Bev Wright over the “10-year limit on Board membership.” Peter Boehm, and Bill McMurray also participated in the discussion. Pat Wright, former President and member of the Management review team, stepped forward to explain that the restriction was stipulated in Probus Canada documents. It was found during the very much overdue review of our Constitution and Bylaws, that we needed to include this stipulation to align ourselves with the national documents. She further advised that because we had several long-serving members of the Board that this would immediately affect, the Board agreed to ‘grandfather’ this stipulation in.
Motion carried [by show of hands].
