Paddleboarding (stand-up paddleboard) is a pleasant, possibly exciting and slightly different way to enjoy the water. This is a very peaceful and calming activity in flat water, but can be exhilarating on a wavy day. Paddleboarding is suitable to participants of all skill levels, with a moderate fitness level. Having a decent sense of balance helps. A reasonable level of comfort in the water is expected, as there is always the chance that you will get wet. We plan to meet one day a week, usually in the afternoon, at approximately 2:00 until about 4:00. At the start of the season we will choose an afternoon convenient to the group, however, weather conditions will be taken into consideration each week. Any changes in the date will be communicated by email in advance. This activity will take place at Christie Beach, west of Thornbury. There is ample parking, and the water is shallow and protected. It is an ideal spot for beginners, but fun for seasoned paddleboarders as well. We hope to begin in mid June until early September, again, weather dependent. Don’t own a paddleboard? Rentals are available from Blue Surf in Craigleith. Participants can make arrangements as required. Whether you are an experienced paddleboarder looking to enjoy your sport with friends or a beginner who would like to try it, we look forward to having you join us.
